Before USJ: Schaffner had a highly successful sports career at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, Conn., playing four years of soccer and three years of lacrosse before graduating in 2020. She is best known for her efforts in the 2019 CIAC Girls Soccer Class S State Championsip, where the Crusaders took a dramatic 1-0 win, and in doing so, became the only Holy Cross Soccer team to win a state title. The Crusaders and their senior captain goalie marched into the tournament with a 13-1-2 regular season record, and a Naugatuck Valley League (NVL) Championship crown. Schaffner was team MVP in 2019, and was an all-state nomination. She also made the NVL All-Star Game twice (2018, 2019). Schaffner received All-NVL Academic Honors all four years of her high school career.
