Prospective Student-Athletes

If you are on this page it means you are interested in being a Blue Jay one day! All future Blue Jays must comply with and adhere to all NCAA DIII rules and regulations during the process from prospective student athletes to current Blue Jays. Who is a prospective student- athlete?

 According to the NCAA, a prospective student- athlete is anyone who:

  • Is in the ninth – twelfth grade of high school;
  • Is enrolled at a two- year college; or 
  • Is a student- athlete from a four- year college who has entered the transfer portal.

How to get noticed by a USJ coach?

  • Any prospective student- athlete who is looking to get noticed by a coach should complete a prospective student- athlete questionnaire for their specific sport. If you are a student who competes in more than one sport, please fill out a questionnaire for each individual sport. These questionnaires can be found at http://usjbluejays.com/recruiting

What are the rules as it relates to recruitment?

  • Official Visits
    • Official visits are any visit that is financed by USJ.
    • USJ can only finance one visit to the campus for prospective student- athlete.
    • Official visit starts when the prospective student- athlete steps onto the campus and can not exceed 48 hours.
    • USJ can pay for transportation to and from the University, lodging, and 3 meals per day for prospective student- athlete and their family or guardian.
  • Unofficial Visits
    • Prospective student- athletes may make unofficial visits before January of his/her junior year of high school
    • Expenses must be paid for by prospective student- athletes and/or their parents.
    • USJ may not reserve home- game tickets to be purchased by prospective student athlete.
