Women's Cross Country Finishes Sixth at GNAC Championships

STANDISH, Maine – Freshman Faith Shores (West Simsbury, Conn) posted a top-20 performance to lead the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish during the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships at the SJC Cross Country Trail in Standish, Maine on Saturday. Overall, the Blue Jays significantly improved upon on their 6K times on a course they previously ran on earlier in the season. Morgan Hall (Norfolk, Conn.) was also named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Shores paced the Blue Jays for the second consecutive meet, running a 6k time of 29:24.9 to finish in 19th. Her time was nearly two minutes faster than when she ran the same course during the Runnin' Monks Invitational.
  • Hall crossed the line second for the Blue Jays, finishing in 30th place after posting a time of 31:30.9.
  • Alexis Perrone (Frankfort, N.Y) trailed closely behind, recording a time of 32:47.90, to place 36th. 
  • Jaelynn Solorzano (Wallingford, Conn.) was the next Blue Jays to cross the line, finishing in 47th after posting a time of 34:31.1
  • Julie Robinson (Newington, Conn.) trailed closely behind, rounding out the USJ lineup, recording a time of 37:55.5, to place 53rd.
