Cross Country Set for GNAC Championships Saturday
WINTHROP, Mass. –The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's and women's cross country teams were picked to finish fifth and ninth, respectively, in the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pre-Championship Poll, the league's front office announced Friday morning. The Blue Jays are set to toe the line in the upcoming GNAC Championships, hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine (SJC) on Saturday, October 29th at the SJC Cross Country Trail in Standish, Maine. The women's 6k is set to begin at 11:00 a.m., while the men's 8k goes off at 12:15 p.m.

The women's team is paced by freshman Faith Shores (West Simsbury, Conn.). Shores led the Blue Jays in five of the team's six regular season meets. Earlier this season, she earned a 13th place finish after crossing the line in a time of 31:47.0 on the SJC Cross Country Trail during the Runnin' Monks Invitational. Shores posted a team-best 6k time of 29:00.9 during the team's regular season finale at the Connecticut College Invitational.
Sophomore Braeden Laframboise (Southington, Conn.) leads the men's team after earning three GNAC athlete of the week accolades on the season. The sophomore sensation paced the Blue Jays at all six regular season meets, including first-place finishes at the Blazer Classic Invitational, Mitchell Invitational and Emily MacEwen Blue Jay Invitational. Laframboise set a new program record in the 8k during the Connecticut College Invitational, crossing the line in a time of 27:22.2.
