Five From Women's Soccer Selected to CSC Academic All-District Team

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Graduate student Elizabeth Garlock (Meriden, Conn.), junior Jenna Zup (Berlin, Conn.), and sophomores Gillian Barresi (Holtsville, N.Y.), Alana Picard (Windsor Locks, Conn.), and Zoe Zappone (Plymouth, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team received College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be an Academic All-District® honoree, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore at their institution, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above, and compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests/sets played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the games/contests/sets. A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.

Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
