Women's Lacrosse Outlasts Thomas College Wednesday, 13-7

WATERVILLE, Maine - Playing in its second second game in as many days, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's lacrosse team staved off a late charge and defeated the Thomas College (TC) Terriers, 13-7, on the road in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Smith Field.

The Blue Jays bounced back after fighting, but ultimately falling in the final minute Tuesday to the UMaine-Farmington Beavers, 9-7, with a clutch victory over the host Terriers Wednesday. Sophomore's Taya Valdez (East Lyme, Conn.) and Jenna Banta (Montville, Conn.) combined to net nine goals to lead USJ offensively on the afternoon. Senior Charlotte Eberhardt (Thomaston, Conn.) and sophomore Symantha Fazzino (Newington, Conn.) each added two goals a piece to round out the scoring for the Blue Jays.

The USJ women's lacrosse team returns back to West Hartford on Saturday for its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener versus Saint Joseph's College of Maine. The opening draw between the Blue Jays and Monks is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on the USJ Lacrosse Field.
