Women's Hoops to Compete in 2024 Puerto Rico Clasico

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's basketball team is set to participate in the 2024 Puerto Rico Clasico, hosted by Puerto Rico College Sports Tours during the 2024-25 season head coach Wendy Davis announced. The Puerto Rico Classico hosts college basketball teams at the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA levels for a week of highly competitive games in Puerto Rico.

The event, which will be held at the Mario Morales Coliseum in Guaynabo and the Rubén Rodríguez Coliseum in Bayamón, will take place from December 16-20, 2024 and will include two games. The Mario Morales Coliseum can accommodate up to 5,500 people and serves as the home venue for Guaynabo's official basketball team, the Guaynabo Mets. The Rubén Rodríguez Coliseum can accommodate up to 12,000 people and is primarily used for basketball and volleyball games.

The Blue Jays, members of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), are coming off one of the best seasons in program history, posting a program-best record of 24-4 overall, including a 13-1 mark in the GNAC. The Blue Jays had a historic postseason run, advancing to the GNAC Championship game for the second time in program history, and first since USJ won the championship in 1998.
