Bio
Wendy Davis enters her seventh season as Head Coach of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Women’s Basketball team in 2024-25. Davis wasted no time making an impact for the Blue Jays, improving from a 3-win 2018-19 to 11 wins in 2019-20, the first double-digit win season for women's hoops since 2014. After the 2020-21 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Davis continued to achieve success with the Blue Jays in 2021-22, guiding USJ to the 2022 GNAC Playoffs, marking the program's first trip to the postseason since 2014. During that season, the Blue Jays posted a 15-11 overall mark, their best record since going 19-7 in 2010-11. USJ continued its upward trajectory in 2022-23, finishing the year with a 16-10 overall record and appearing in the GNAC Playoffs for the second consecutive season.
The Blue Jays made history under Davis during the 2023-24 season, posting the best record in program history, finishing 24-4 overall and 13-1 in GNAC play. The Blue Jays advanced to the GNAC Championship game in 2023-24, marking the first time since the team won its lone championship in the 1997-98 season that the Blue Jays made the GNAC Title game. Coach Davis also made history during the 2023-24 season, winning her 300th career game during the Blue Jay's 79-68 victory over Emmanuel College.
Under the direction of Davis, the Blue Jay's have gone 69-61.
Davis joined the Blue Jays after spending 11 seasons as head coach at nearby Trinity College. During her time with the Bantams, Davis’ teams finished with winning records seven times. She also led the Bantams to their best-ever record since 2000 (17-8) during the 2008-09 season, and to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Tournament semi-finals in 2009 and 2014.
Prior to Trinity, Davis enjoyed a highly successful six-year stint at Western New England University. She was the first women's basketball coach in school history to reach 100 victories, and her .655 winning percentage is still a school record. Her squads participated in post-season tournaments all six years. In 2004-05, Davis was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Coach of the Year, as the Golden Bears posted a 19-8 record. Davis began her coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut in 1993-94.
Davis earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Connecticut in 1992 and added a master’s degree from her alma mater in 1994, while helping the perennial women’s basketball national power earn four NCAA bids, and a trip to the NCAA Final Four in 1991. Under head coach Geno Auriemma, Davis was a four-year starter, a three-time Academic All-American, and made the all-tournament team in the 1991 NCAA Regional Championship. Davis is a member of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame, and was twice named to the prestigious College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American Team.
Davis graduated from Daniel Boone High School in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania in 1988. She remains the Berks County girls' scoring leader with 2,504 points.
