Cross Country Announces 2023 Schedule

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's and women's cross country teams and first-year head coach Stacie Wentz have announced the schedule for the upcoming 2023 season. The Blue Jays are set to compete in nine meets, leading up to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, hosted by and held at Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

FULL 2023 WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY SCHEDULE

The Blue Jays open up the 2023 campaign at the ninth annual Wheaton and Babson Season Opener on Saturday, September 2 at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass. USJ then returns to Connecticut, heading to Middletown for the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday, September 9 at the Wes Fuhrman '05 Trails Cross Country Course.

Following the opening two meets of the season, the Blue Jays return to Massachusetts to round out the month of September. The teams first head to Dartmouth, Mass., for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 16, before rounding out the opening month of the season with a trip to Amherst, Mass. for a meet at Hampshire College on Saturday, September 30.

When the calendar flips over to October, Saint Joseph remains in the Bay State, travelling to Westfield, Mass., for the James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park, on Saturday, October 7. The Blue Jays then return back to its home state, heading to Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn., for the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, October 14.

The Blue Jays then take two weeks off to prepare for championship season, which kicks off with the GNAC Championships on Sunday, October 29 at the SJC Cross Country Trail on the campus of Saint Joseph's College of Maine in Standish, Maine. The team's return to action less than a week later, taking part in the Connecticut DIII Challenge at Stenger Farm Park in Waterford, Conn., on Saturday, November 4 before rounding out the season with a return trip to Staley Park in Westfield, Mass., for the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships on Saturday, November 11.

USJ is looking to carry over its success from last season, in which both the men's and women's team took home two meet victories. The Blue Jays also look to improve upon its performance in the GNAC Championship meet, where the men finished in fifth while the women placed sixth overall.
