
Ayala Rodriguez Named GNAC Women's Volleyball Libero of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – After a historic week, senior libero Fernanda Ayala Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's volleyball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Libero of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office on Monday afternoon in its tenth weekly report of the 2024 season. The award marks the second time that Ayala Rodriguez has received a conference weekly accolade this season, and in her career.
Ayala Rodriguez had a historic week, tallying 64 digs across three matches, averaging 6.40 digs per set. During the week, the senior also notched her 1,000th career dig. She started the week by pacing the USJ defense with 34 digs on the road at Mitchell. The tally was the second-highest mark for Ayala Rodriguez this season. She followed up her outing against the Mariners by recording 14 digs at home against Johnson & Wales. Then, Ayala Rodriguez made history during the final match of the week, recording her 1,00th career dig during the match against Simmons, where she finished with 16 total digs. This season, she has recorded 314 digs, the 10th most in the GNAC, averaging 5.06 digs per set, good for second in the conference.
UP NEXT
The Blue Jays return to the James A. Calhoun Gymansium for their final home match of the 2024 campaign, hosting intrastate rivals Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday, November 5. The match against the Falcons will also serve as Senior Day for USJ. Opening serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
