Volleyball Wins Third Straight, Sweeps Dean Saturday, 3-0

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over the Bulldogs of Dean College (DEAN) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match on the road on Saturday afternoon. It marks the team's third straight win, tied for the third longest such streak in the last 10 seasons:

The Blue Jays took a heated first set, 25-19, ending the set on an 8-2 run. It seemed to spark something out of a team that is playing its best volleyball of the season. The Blue Jays took a double-digit lead midway through the next two sets to close out the hosts in a sweep. Senior outside hitter and captain Hannah Benson (Terryville, Conn.) was clicking on all cylinders in this one with a match-high 14 kills. Junior middle hitter Shannon Carey (Bayport, N.Y.) added nine of her own in the win. Junior outside hitter turned libero Julia MacKenzie (Wallingford, Conn.) was active from start defensively and finished with a match-high 18 digs.

UP NEXT
USJ will be back in action on Tuesday, October 26 against Salem State, at 7:00 p.m. in non-conference competition. It is the first of three home matches to close out the 2021 regular season.
