Blue Jays Win Back-To-Back Matches, Top Albertus Tuesday, 3-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's volleyball team picked up its second-straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win off the season, knocking off the Albertus Magnus College (AMC) Falcons on the road Tuesday evening inside 'The Nest'.

The Blue Jays put a stranglehold on this one by taking the first two sets, 25-21, and 25-19. In the first set, the Falcons led by as many as six on two different occasions, but USJ fought back as they have all season long, scoring seven straight to take a 22-19 lead and eventually the set, 25-21. In the second stanza, Saint Joseph led the entire way, and each time AMC tried to get it close, the visitors were able to pull away. Still, the Falcons fought hard to defend their home court, taking set three, 25-16. The fourth set was tight untill the midway point when senior outside hitter Hannah Benson (Terryville, Conn.) and company picked things up. Benson would provide the match-winning kill in a 25-23 fourth-set win. Benson finished with a match-high 21 kills, while junior middle hitter Shannon Carey (Bayport, N.Y.) added 13 of her own in the triumph.
