Women's Tennis to Join Conference of New England as Associate Member
BEVERLY, Mass. – The Conference of New England (CNE) is thrilled to announce it will add University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and Colby-Sawyer College as associate members in Women's Tennis beginning in the fall of 2025. The addition of the Chargers and Blue Jays will bring the women's tennis membership to 11 teams, creating 10 conference matches.
"We are thrilled to welcome two outstanding institutions to our women's tennis membership," said CNE Commissioner Patrick Colbert. "Both programs have demonstrated a strong dedication to establishing themselves as top-tier teams on both a regional and national level after strong seasons this past fall. USJ and Colby-Sawyer share our Conference's core values, and we look forward to collaborating with them to further enrich the experiences we offer their student-athletes."
The Chargers and Blue Jays both competed for the GNAC Championship this past fall, with No. 2 seed USJ falling to No. 1 seed Colby-Sawyer 5-0 to advance to the NCAA Division III Championships being held this spring. Saint Joseph posted a 10-5 regular season while Colby-Sawyer finished 8-1 overall.
"USJ is thrilled to be joining the Conference of New England in women's tennis," said USJ Associate Vice President of Athletics and Recreation Amanda Devitt. "This move will further elevate our program and support our student-athletes. We appreciate the support from the CNE for welcoming us."
"Colby-Sawyer is excited to be accepted as an associate member of the Conference New England for women's tennis," Colby-Sawyer Director of Athletics Jen McKillop said. "We look forward to the exceptional competition and alignment of values that the CNE brings to both our tennis programs. Thank you to the CNE Presidents, Commissioner Colbert and athletic directors for your support."
