Geiger Breaks 1-Meter Diving Program Record; Blue Jays Sit Third After Day Two of GNAC Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Kira Geiger of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team set a new program record in the 1-meter diving event as the Blue Jays continued the 2025 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships on Saturday inside the WPI Sports & Recreation Center in Worcester, Mass. USJ tallied 342 points to rank third after the second day of action.

TOP PERFORMANCES 

  • 200 Yard Free Relay – The team of senior Amy Mamica (Rocky Hill, Conn.), freshmen Peyton Tyler (Killingworth, Conn.) and Alina Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.) and sophomore Alexia Grech (Burlington, Conn.) finished in fifth place, posting a time of 1:52.04.
  • 100 Yard Fly – Niemczyk paced the team in the event, finishing in fourth place after posting a time of 1:05.06.
  • 500 Yard Free – Mamica topped the timing sheet for USJ, placing eighth after recording a time of 6:02.19.
  • 50 Yard Back - Freshman Charlotte Poltronieri (Enfield, Conn.), recorded a fifth-place finish, posting a time of 31.06 seconds.
  • 50 Yard Free -  Grech paced USJ with an eighth-place finish, tallying a time of 27.34 seconds.
  • 200 Yard Breaststroke - Sophomore Isabella Castrillo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished in tenth, tallying a time of 3:05.27.
  • 100 Yard IM - Junior Julianna Violette (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished in 11th-place, recording a time of 1:12.76.
  • 800 Free Relay - The team of Tyler, Poltronieri, senior Emily Beyer (Prospect, Conn.) and Grech finished in fourth place, combining for a time of 9:19.43.
  • 1 Meter Diving - Geiger took home the bronze medal, tallying a score of 284.75 points.

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays conclude the GNAC Championships tomorrow, Sunday, February 9. Prelims begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the WPI Sports & Recreation Center in Worcester, Mass., with finals beginning at roughly 5:00p.m.
