
Women's Swimming & Diving Falls at Norwich Saturday Afternoon
NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team fell on the road at Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Norwich University, 217-77, Saturday afternoon at Goodyear Pool in Northfield, Vt.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- 400 Yard Medley Relay – The team of freshmen Charlotte Poltronieri (Enfield, Conn.), senior Amy Mamica (Rocky Hill, Conn.), sophomore Alexia Grech (Burlington, Conn.) and freshman Alina Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.) finshed in second place, combining for a time of 5:00.16.
- 1650 Yard Free – Sophomore Kate Ostrowski (Wyckoff, N.J.) paced the team, finishing in third place after recording a time of 23:44.79.
- 200 Yard Free – Freshman Peyton Tyler (Killingworth, Conn.) finished in third place, posting a time of 2:25.48.
- 50 Yard Back - Sophomore Karina Deros (Watertown, Conn.) finished in third place, recording a time of 39.09 seconds.
- 50 Yard Breaststroke – Sophomore Isabella Castrillo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) recorded a third place finish with a time of 41.27 seconds.
- 100 Yard Fly - Niemczyk won the event for USJ, posting a time of 1:04.83.
- 50 Yard Free - Grech paced the team, finishing in third after recording a time of 28.69 seconds.
- 100 Yard Free - Grech finished in third place, posting a time of 1:05.12.
- 100 Yard Back - Deros finished in fourth place, recording a time of 1:27.47.
- 100 Yard Breaststroke - Castrillo finished in third place, touching the wall in a time of 1:29.23.
- 500 Yard Free – Junior Julianna Violette (Rocky Hill, Conn.) paced the team with a third-place finish, posting a time of 6:32.99.
- 50 Yard Fly - Mamica finished in fourth place, touching the wall in 30.19 seconds.
- 1 Meter Diving (11 Dives) - Sophomore Sophia Simoes (Watertown, Conn.) finished in second place, recording a score of 129.75 points.
- 400 Yard IM – Niemczyk finished in second place, recording a time of 5:20.59.
- 800 Free Relay - The team of Mamica, Violette, Grech and Niemczyk finished in second after combining for a time of 9:35.94.

The Blue Jays return to the pool on December 6th for the Connecticut Cup, hosted by Wesleyan University at the Webster Family Natatorium in Middletown, Conn.
