Women's Swimming & Diving Drops Road Dual Meet at Gordon Saturday

WENHAM, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming & diving team fell on the road at Gordon College, 164-80, Saturday afternoon during a non-conference dual meet inside the Bennett Center Natatorium in Wenham, Mass.

TOP PERFORMANCES

  • 400 Yard Medley Relay – The team of sophomore Julianna Violette (Rocky Hill, Conn.), junior Amy Mamica (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and freshmen Kaia Michaud (Hamden, Conn.) and Alexia Grech (Burlington, Conn.) took home the gold, winning the event in a time of 4:44.61.
  • 1000 Yard Free – Senior Adelina Marcille (Waterford, Conn.) topped the timing sheet for USJ, finishing in third with a time of 14:06.27.
  • 50 Yard Back – Freshman Karina Deros (Watertown, Conn.) finished in third, touching the wall in a time of 41.93 seconds.
  • 50 Yard Breaststroke – Freshman Isabella Castrillo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) recorded a third-place finish, recording a time of 41.24 seconds.
  • 200 Yard Fly – Freshman Jodie Hammond (Newington, Conn.) was the lone Blue Jay, finishing in second in a time of 3:23.29.
  • 50 Yard Free – Michaud continued her impressive day, winning the event in a time of 27.80 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Free – Mamica paced the Blue Jays, finishing in second with a time of 1:02.50.
  • 200 Yard Back – Violette recorded a second-place finish, notching a time of 2:36.53.
  • 200 Yard Breaststroke – Castrillo finished in third place, recording a time of 3:10.49.
  • 500 Yard Free – Junior Emily Beyer (Prospect, Conn.) paced USJ, finishing in third place with a time of 6:50.05.
  • 50 Yard Fly – Michaud recorded a second-place finish, touching the wall in a time of 31.65 seconds.
  • 200 Yard IM – Violette finished in second, recording a time of 2:38.40.
  • 400 Yard Free Relay – The team of Mamica, Michaud, Violette and Grech finished in second, combining for a time of 4:17.87.

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays return to West Hartford to round out the 2023-24 regular season on Friday, January 26, for a dual meet against intrastate foes Eastern Connecticut. The dual meet against the Warriors is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. inside the Bruyette Natatorium. The meet will also serve as Senior Day for the USJ swimming & diving team.
