Women's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw on Senior Day Saturday

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Corcoran (Bristol, Conn.) produced ten-saves to guide the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team to a scoreless draw against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foes Colby-Sawyer College (CSC) Saturday afternoon at the USJ Soccer Field in West Hartford, Conn. Prior to opening kickoff, the Blue Jays honored the senior class of 2024. With the result, the Blue Jays moved to 6-9-3 overall and 6-5-3 in the GNAC, while the Chargers moved to 8-4-7 on the year and 6-2-6 in the conference.

KEY MOMENTS

  • The Chargers peppered the net in the opening 45 minutes, but Corcoran was a brick wall in goal, not allowing the visitors to take the lead.
  • USJ nearly found the back of the net at the 41:06 mark, but senior forward Kelsi Ursini (Groton, Conn.) saw her strike be saved, as the game remained scoreless entering halftime.
  • Corcoran came up big for USJ again the second half, producing seven saves to keep CSC off of the scoreboard, as the Blue Jays were only able to register one shot in the closing 45 minutes of play.
  • Neither team would find the back of the net as both teams settled for a 0-0 draw.

  • The Chargers held a commanding edge in shots, 21-3.
  • Corcoran tallied ten saves to keep her fourth shutout of the season.
