DANBURY, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team was edged by the Farmingdale State College (FSC) Rams, 2-1, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Westside Stadium in Danbury, Conn. With the result, the Blue Jays dropped to 0-2-0 to start the young season, while the Rams leveled their record at 1-1-0 on the year.
KEY MOMENTS
- FSC wasted little time opening up the scoring, finding the back of the net at the 1:11 mark to take a quick 1-0 lead.
- The Rams doubled the lead 13 minutes later, scoring at the 14:06 mark to extend the gap to 2-0.
- USJ answered back in the 28th minute, as freshman defender Samantha Clyde (South Portland, Maine) picked out a pass to freshman midfielder Julia Loughman (Wolcott, Conn.), who fired her shot into the net, closing the gap to 2-1. The score would hold entering halftime.
- The Blue Jays were unable to find the equalizing goal in the second half, only registering one shot in the closing 45 minutes as FSC secured the win, 2-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Loughman and Clyde both recorded their first career points.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Corcoran (Bristol, Conn.) tallied 10 saves on the day.
- The Rams outshot the Blue Jays, 20-7.

The Blue Jays remain on the road, heading to intrastate foes Connecticut College for a non-conference match on Tuesday, September 3. Opening kickoff against the Camels at Freeman Field in New London, Conn., is set for 4:30 p.m.
