Picard Picks Up GNAC Rookie of the Week Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. - Sophomore Alana Picard (Windsor Lock, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team picked up Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week honors, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon in its fourth weekly report of the 2023 season. It marks the first career GNAC weekly honor for Picard and the second for the USJ women's soccer team this season.

Picard scored three goals for six points to help USJ to a 1-1 GNAC week and earn her first career GNAC Rookie of the Week honor. She opened the week with a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a 5-0 road win at Anna Maria on Wednesday. It marked the second time through seven games in her first season with the Blue Jays that Picard registered a multi-goal outing. The Windsor Locks native followed it up by finding the back of the net once on Saturday at Colby-Sawyer in a 3-2 setback. Through eight games, Picard ranks second on USJ's roster in points with 13 via six goals and an assist.

UP NEXT

Picard and the Blue Jays return back to West Hartford on Tuesday, September 26 for Senior Night, welcoming GNAC foes Rivier University to the USJ Soccer Field. Kickoff between the Blue Jays and Raiders is slated to start at 6:00 p.m.
