LeGault Tabbed GNAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman Anna LeGault (Colchester, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's lacrosse team was tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office Monday evening in its sixth weekly report of the 2024 season. It marked the second time LeGault has been recognized as the GNAC Rookie of the Week, and the fourth weekly conference honor earned for the Blue Jays so far this season.

LeGault was very explosive on the offensive end of the field for the Blue Jays, helping guide them to a 3-0 record this past week in conference play. LeGault started the week with four goals and an assist for five points in a 17-4 victory at home over Anna Maria on Tuesday. Then, she scored a hat trick and collected four assists for seven points in a 23-0 shutout victory on the road at Mitchell on Thursday. The freshman from Colchester then ended the week with six goals and two assists for eight points against Albertus Magnus in a 23-1 triumph on the road on Saturday. Overall, LeGault finished the week with 13 goals and seven assists for a 20-point week, while collecting seven ground balls and winning 12 draw controls en route to collecting her second career GNAC Rookie of the Week award.

Through USJ's first nine games of the 2024 season, LeGault leads the team and is tied for the top spot in the conference in points with 50. She leads the Blue Jays with 25 goals and also leads the team and the entire GNAC with 25 assists. She has scored a team-best eight (8-11) free-position goals and has landed 45 of her 60 shots on the year on target for a 75.0% shot-on-goal percentage.

LeGault and the Blue Jays return to action on Thursday, April 4 at home for their final non-conference contest of the 2024 season versus Wentworth Institute of Technology. The opening draw between the Blue Jays and Leopards is set for 3:30 p.m. at the USJ Lacrosse Field in West Hartford, Conn.
