LAX Drops GNAC Matchup With Simmons College

BOSTON, Mass.— The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's lacrosse team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup with Simmons College (SC), 16-5 on Daly Field in Brighton Wednesday.

Sophomore midfielder Molly Reinhold (Mystic, Conn.) scored a game-high six goals for the Sharks (7-6, 5-4 GNAC). She also had an assist. Freshman attack Taya Valdez (East Lyme, Conn.) scored a team-high three goals for the Blue Jays (2-11, 0-10 GNAC).

The Sharks set the tone right from the start, scoring the first eight goals of the game, capped off with back-to-back Shark scores from Reinhold. They took an 11-2 lead into the half, and maintained a nine-plus goal lead throughout. SC doubled up USJ in total shots (34-12) and ground balls (18-9).

The USJ women's lacrosse team will be back in action in their season finale on Saturday, April 20 when they head to Anna Maria (MA) in another GNAC contest. The opening draw is set for 1:00 p.m. Simmons will play Emmanuel (MA) also on Saturday, but at 11:00 a.m.
