Elms tops USJ, 14-3

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph lacrosse team lost a 14-3 non-conference game Thursday to Elms College at Leary Field.

USJ goes to 3-5 after the game; Elms is 3-6.

Rose St. Hilaire (West Hartford, Conn.) scored two goals, one in each half, for USJ and Hannah Lemek (Bristol, Conn.) added one. St. Hilaire upper her team-leading goal count to 28 for the season.

Elms scored the first seven goals before Lemek broke through for the Blue Jays and found the back of the net with 14:36 left in the first half. St. Hilaire scored her first with 6:11 remaining in the half, but Elms led 11-2 at the break.

USJ goalkeeper Emily Bourassa (Bristol, Conn.) faced 29 shots on goal and came up big with 15 saves. Lemek also had game-highs of six ground balls and six draw controls. Elms outshot USJ 35-12 overall.

USJ next plays at Rivier in a GNAC game, Saturday April 9 beginning at 3 p.m.
