Verboven Named to NEWBA Team of the Week
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Graduate student guard Taylor Verboven (Columbia, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's basketball team was selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Week Four Second Team, it was announced by association officials on Tuesday in its fourth weekly awards release of the season. It marked the second career weekly NEWBA honor for Verboven and the second for the Blue Jays this season.
Verboven paced USJ during a 1-1 week, averaging 19.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game. She started the week by dropping 18 points and nine rebounds on the road at Salve Regina, before rounding out the week by securing a 20-point and 10-rebound double-double, as USJ defeated the defending GNAC champions Saint Joseph's College of Maine at home. This season, Verboven is currently averaging 16.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

The Blue Jays take the week off, returning to the court on Wednesday, December 18 for the opening day of the Puerto Rico Clasico. USJ is set to play two games in Puerto Rico, starting with a matchup against Bridgewater College on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. inside Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
