Ouellette Earns Third NEWBA Team of the Week Accolade

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior forward Jordan Ouellette (Bristol, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's basketball team was selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) First-Team, it was announced by association officials on Wednesday. It marks the fifth career weekly NEWBA honor for Ouellette, her third of the season after earning the accolade on Jan. 11 and Dec. 7, and the third for the Blue Jays this year. The accolade is the second of the week for Ouellette, who was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) player of the week on Monday.

Ouellette had a monstrous week for the Blue Jays, averaging a double-double with 29.0 points and 12.0 rebounds while shooting 55.6 percent (25-45) from the floor. She started off with a career-high 31 points and 16 rebounds (eight offensive) in a thrilling triple overtime game against Albertus Magnus, marking the first time USJ had a player with 30+ points this season. She also had two steals and three blocks against the Falcons. Ouellette wrapped up the week by leading USJ to a bounce-back 65-55 victory at home against Elms, scoring 27 points while hauling in eight boards. 

Ouellette has scored 20-plus points in six games this season and leads the Blue Jays on the season averaging 16.4 points per game. The scoring total sees her rank sixth in the GNAC. The junior forward also paces the team on the glass, hauling in 8.6 rebounds per game, the eighth most in the conference.

UP NEXT 
The Blue Jays return to the hardwood this evening, Wednesday February 8, travelling to Boston, Mass., to face Emmanuel College in GNAC play. Tipoff against the Saints inside the Jean Yawkey Center is set for 5:30 p.m.

The New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) provides support for coaches from the New England Region. Membership in NEWBA is open to all Division III head coaches from the region who have a vested interest in the welfare of the organization.
