Ouellette Earns Second NEWBA Team of the Week Accolade

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior forward Jordan Ouellette (Bristol, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's basketball team was selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Second-Team for the seventh week of the season, it was announced by association officials on Wednesday. It marks the fourth career weekly NEWBA honor for Ouellette, her second of the season after earning the accolade on Dec. 7, and the third for the Blue Jays this year.

Ouellette paced the Blue Jays to a 3-0 week, averaging a double-double with 15.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. The junior started off the week with a 15 point and 11 rebound outing in the comeback victory against Johnson & Wales on Jan. 3. She followed up her double-double outing with 11 points in only 22 minutes during the Blue Jays route of Lasell, 84-45, two days later on Jan. 5. Ouellette rounded out her week with a career day, dropping her second double-double of the week after posting 20 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in the road victory at Regis on Jan. 7. Ouellette paces USJ in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.3 points per game, while hauling in 8.3 rebounds per game.

UP NEXT 
The Blue Jays return to the hardwood this evening with a visit to in-state rival Albertus Magnus on for a GNAC matchup. Tipoff from the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center in New Haven, Conn., is set for 5:30 p.m.

The New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) provides support for coaches from the New England Region. Membership in NEWBA is open to all Division III head coaches from the region who have a vested interest in the welfare of the organization.
