Ouellette Named to NEWBA Team of the Week

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior wing Jordan Ouellette (Bristol, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's basketball team was selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Second Team for the fourth week of the season, it was announced by association officials on Wednesday. It marks the third career weekly NEWBA honor for Ouellette, and the second for the Blue Jays this season.

Ouellette paced the Blue Jays to a 2-1 week, averaging 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. The Junior started off the week with 10 points against intrastate foe Western Connecticut, before exploding for a career-high 29 points during a 68-57 victory over Mitchell on Thursday. Ouellette rounded out her week with a 16-point and seven-rebound outing to help lead USJ past Anna Maria, 68-56, in its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener on Saturday. She joins senior guard Amanda Fudge (Middletown, Conn.) in earning NEWBA recognition this season. Fudge also earned Second Team honors after the opening week of the season, where she led the Blue Jays to a 3-0 start and earned the USJ Tip-Off Tournament MVP honors.

UP NEXT 
The Blue Jays return to the hardwood this evening for another GNAC road contest in the state of Massachusetts, playing at Elms College. Tipoff between the Blue Jays and Blazers is slated for 5:00 p.m. inside the Maguire Center in Chicopee, Mass.
