Camels Bump Blue Jays, 56-44, Saturday In Exhibition Contest

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's basketball team kept knocking on the door, but couldn't quite get over the hump, falling to a tall and talented Connecticut College (CC) Camels team, 56-44, inside the O'Connell Center Saturday morning in an exhibition contest.

Junior guard Emily Tripp (Westport, Mass.) led the way for the Camels with a double-double (19 PTS, 10 REB) on an impressive 7-for-11 from the field. She also had three assists and two steals. Sophomore guard Amanda Fudge (Middletown, Conn.) was the high-scorer for the Blue Jays, dropping 11 points and grabbing four boards. The Camels led pretty much throughout, capitalizing on crisp ball movement against the 2-3 zone of USJ. USJ had a few runs in them, cutting the gap to single digits, but each time, the Camels stayed disciplined, and either crashed the glass for a big putback, or hit a timely three to stay afloat.

GAME INFORMATION
Score: Connecticut College 56, Saint Joseph 44
Location: O'Connell Athletic Center | West Hartford, Conn.

COACH QUOTE [Wendy Davis on today's effort]
"That [Conn. College] team is a very good basketball team. We were within eight to 12 points pretty much the whole game. Honestly, for us, I think that is pretty good. 44 points though is not enough to win a basketball game. We need to find a way to get our scorers going."

NUMBER TO KNOW

1 – The Blue Jays made just one three-pointer (1-10 3FG) to seven for the Camels (7-21 3FG). Timely threes were the name of the game for CC, particularly in the second half.
