Mayo Tabbed to NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Junior Rajeen Mayo (Middletown, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph women's basketball team was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Monday afternoon via a release by the regional front office.

Mayo had a huge week for the Blue Jays, helping lead USJ to a 1-1 week in GNAC action. The junior point guard averaged 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals, while shooting 51.9% (14-of-27) from the floor and going 14-of-17 from the charity stripe across the two game set. She poured in a career-high 27 points and added six rebounds, four steals and three assists to her stat line in a tough road setback at Mount Ida on Tuesday before compiling 17 points, five rebounds and five assists in a 69-56 bounce back victory at home over Anna Maria on Saturday. The Middletown product now averages 13.7 points per game on the season and leads the team with 74 assists.

Mayo and the USJ basketball team will back in action next on Tuesday night in their final home game of the 2016-17 season. It will be Senior Night as the Blue Jays host GNAC and intrastate rival Albertus Magnus inside the O'Connell Center at 7 p.m.
