Streak Snapped at Emmanuel

BOSTON, Mass. Devin Diliberto (Waterbury, Conn.) established a single-season school record for three-pointers made, but Saint Joseph College had its eight-game winning streak ended Thursday in an 85-59 loss in a GNAC game at the Jean Yawkey Center.

Diliberto scored nine points and her two three-pointers gave her 56 for the season -- two ahead of former record holder and current Saint Joseph College volleyball coach Val Briggs, who made 54 in 1999-2000.

The loss was the first for Saint Joseph since falling to Suffolk, 58-57 on Jan. 17. The Blue Jays dropped to 17-6 overall and 7-4 in the GNAC. Emmanuel, first place in the conference, is 17-7 and 11-0 in the GNAC.

Mary Hyde (Derby, Conn.) scored a team-high 16 points and had seven rebounds and seven assists. Shauna Sullivan (Rocky Hill, Conn.) had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Blue Jays.

Emmanuel shot 56 percent from the floor (36-for-64) that included making nine of 14 three-pointers while Saint Joseph was held to 36 percent (22-for-61).

Saint Joseph plays at Pine Manor Saturday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. to conclude the regular-season. The Blue Jays will play in a first-round GNAC Tournament game Tuesday, Feb. 22 at a site and time to be announced.
