Softball Splits Senior Day Doubleheader Against Regis, Secures Spot in GNAC Playoffs

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) softball team punched its ticket to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Postseason, splitting a South Division doubleheader at home against Regis College (Regis) Sunday afternoon at the USJ Softball Field in West Hartford, Conn. prior to the doubleheader, the Blue Jays honored Grace DiMinno (Plainfield, Conn.) and Izzy Milardo (Middlefield, Conn.) during a special senior day celebration. The Pride took the opening game 5-3, setting up an all-deciding game two, which USJ won in convincing fashion, 8-0, after five innings to secure a spot in the GNAC playoffs. With the results, the Blue Jays move to 16-22 overall, 7-9 in the GNAC and 6-8 in the South Division, while the Pride conclude their season at 12-22 overall, 6-12 in the GNAC and 5-9 in the South Division.

The Blue Jays begin postseason play with the GNAC First Round at rivals Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday, April 30. First pitch against the Falcons at the Shea Softball Complex in New Haven, Conn., is slated for 3:30 p.m.
