  • EC junior ace Megan Kieselback (Wethersfield, Conn.) protected the lead early, striking out the side in the second to keep the lead at 2-0.

  • USJ sophomore pitcher Amaria Sharon (Tolland, Conn.) retired the Saints in order in the top of the fourth, needing only six pitches to retire the side, and keep the hosts within striking distance.
  • Sharon then led off the bottom of the fourth with the first hit of the afternoon for USJ on a grounder up the middle and came around to score on a clutch two-out RBI single to right by junior infielder Isabella Russo (Southington, Conn.) to cut the score to 3-1.

  • In the bottom of the fifth, USJ junior Kara Klimaszewski (Naugatuck, Conn.) lead off the inning with a single and came around to score on a two-out pinch-hit RBI single by freshman Amanda Thiel (Torrington, Conn.), cutting the lead in half, 4-2.
