Laframboise and Shores Earn All-GNAC First Team Honors During 2023 GNAC XC Championships

STANDISH, Maine. – Junior Braeden Laframboise (Southington, Conn.) and sophomore Faith Shores (West Simsbury, Conn.) paced the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) cross country team at the 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championship Saturday morning on the SJC Cross Country Trails in Standish, Maine. The duo received All-GNAC First Team accolades, as Laframboise finished second overall in the men's 8k, while Shores notched a fourth-place finish in the women's 6k The men's team recorded a sixth-place finish overall. The host Monks took home the team title on the men's side, while the Colby-Sawyer College women received the women's team title.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Laframboise crossed the line in a time of 28:08.2 to earn the silver medal.
  • Junior Patrick O'Connor (Cheshire, Conn.) was the next Blue Jay to cross the line in the men's 8K, finishing in 34th place with a time of 33:31.7
  • Senior Alfred Valero (Thomaston, Conn.) crossed the line next for USJ, recording a 43rd place finish in a time of 34:29.1, nearly two minutes faster than last year's GNAC Championships.
  • Sophomore Jared Rheault (Terryville, Conn.) followed closely behind, recording a time of 35:53.2 to finish in 49th place.
  • Freshman Jonathan Casillas (Holyoke, Mass.) rounded out the men's points finishers, placing 52nd with a time of 36:19.4.
  • Shores paced the Blue Jays in the women's 6K, finishing in fourth after crossing the line in a time of 26:59.7, a significant two minute and 25 second improvement on her time from last year's GNAC Championships.
  • Senior Jaelynn Solorzano (Wallingford, Conn.) finished in 43rd place after posting a time of 33:07.2, a near minute and a half improvement from last year's championship meet.
