Cross Country Takes Part in Connecticut College Invitational

WATERFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) cross country team continued the 2023 campaign Saturday morning, competing in the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn. The men's team recorded a 19th place team finish during the men's white 8K race. Junior Braeden Laframboise (Southington, Conn.) continued his impressive season, breaking the program's 8K record that he set at the team's last meet by four seconds. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Laframboise was the lone Blue Jay in the men's blue 8K race, finishing in 126th place with a new program record time of 26:40.80.
  • Junior Patrick O'Connor paced USJ in the men's white 8K race, crossing the line in a time of 32:48.10 to finish in 160th.
  • Senior Alfred Valero (Thomaston, Conn.) was the next runner to cross the line for the Blue Jays, posting a 162nd place finish after recording a time of 33:35.20.
  • Senior Luke Alvarez (West Hartford, Conn.) followed closely being, notching a 169th place finish after posting a time of 37:20.40, narrowly beating out his teammate freshman Jonathan Casillas (Holyoke, Mass.) who finished in 170th with a time of 37:20.60.
  • Sophomore Jayden Medina (Planstsville, Conn.) rounded out the USJ lineup, finishing in 173rd with a time of 41:26.50.
  • Senior Jaelynn Solorzano (Wallingford, Conn.) was the lone Blue Jay on the women's side, finishing in 168th place in the women's white 6K, crossing the line in a time of 34:24.7.

UP NEXT

Cross country begins championship season with the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships on Sunday, October 29. Hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine at the SJC Cross Country Trail in Standish, Maine, the event is slated to start at 11:00 a.m.
