Laframboise Breaks Program Record, Paces Cross Country at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) cross country team continued the 2023 campaign Saturday morning, competing in the James Earley Invitational at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. Junior Braeden Laframboise (Southington, Conn.) continued his impressive season, breaking the program's 8K record that he set at the team's last meet by 37 seconds. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Laframboise was the lone Blue Jay in the men's white 8K race, finishing in 30th place with a time of 26:44.35. Laframboise was also the highest placed Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) runner, finishing ahead of Norwich's Alek Villavicencio by nearly three minutes.
  • Senior Alfred Valero (Thomaston, Conn.) took part in the men's blue 8K race, leading the Blue Jays with a 99th place finish after crossing the line in a time of 34:00.20.
  • Senior Luke Alvarez (West Hartford, Conn.) rounded out the USJ lineup in the blue 8K, recording a time of 35:40.53 to finish 108th.
  • Sophomore Faith Shores (West Simsbury, Conn.) was the lone Blue Jay on the women's side, finishing in 84th place in the women's white 6K, crossing the line in a time of 26:06.58. Her finish made her the highest placed runner in the GNAC at the event.

UP NEXT

Cross country returns to action next on Saturday, October 14 for the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn. The men's 8K is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.=
