Laframboise Wins Mitchell Invitational, Guides Blue Jays to Second Place Team Finish

WATERFORD, Conn. – Junior Braeden Laframboise (Southington, Conn.) won the Mitchell Invitational to pace the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's cross country to a second-place team finish at Stenger Farm Park in Waterford, Conn., this afternoon. The Blue Jays beat intrastate and conference foes Mitchell on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Laframboise won the men's 5k after blazing across the line in a time of 17:28.3, 17 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
  • Senior Alfred Valero (Thomaston, Conn.) was the next Blue Jay to cross the line, placing fourth after posting a time of 20:04.4
  • Freshman Jonathan Casillas (Holyoke, Mass) followed closely behind, crossing the line in a time of 20:23.0 to finish fifth
  • Senior Luke Alvarez (West Hartford, Conn.) placed 10th for the Blue Jays, posting a time of 21:31.2
  • Sophomore Jayden Medina (Plantsville, Conn.) rounded out the points finishers for USJ, recording a 16th palce finish after posting a time of 23:16.8
  • Freshman Jaylen Ruff (Enfield, Conn.) made his collegiate debut, placing 19th after recording a time of 26:51.3
  • Dean took home the team title, tallying 35 points

UP NEXT

The men's cross country returns to action next on Saturday, September 30, heading to Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass., for the Founding Tree Invitational. The men's 8k is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
