Men's Tennis Fends Off Salve Regina on the Road Monday, 5-4

NEWPORT, R.I. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's tennis team fended off the Salve Regina University (SRU) Seahawks, earning a thrilling non-conference victory, 5-4, on the road Monday afternoon at the Leroy Avenue Courts in Newport, R.I. The Blue Jays won two-of-three doubles matches, which all went to a tiebreak, and then claimed three-of-six singles matches to account for the triumph. Junior Tyler Hussey (Rocky Hill, Conn.), who transferred to USJ from SRU, secured the victory for the Blue Jays after defeating his opponent at No. 5 singles 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 for the match-winning point. With the victory, the Blue Jays improve to 7-5 overall in their inaugural 2022-23 campaign, while the Seahawks drop to 3-4 with the setback.

Men's tennis returns back to the courts on Thursday for another non-conference road contest and makes a trip down to New York City to take on Hunter College. First serve between the Blue Jays and Hawks is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
