Men's Swimming & Diving Ranks Third After Second Day of GNAC Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team continued the 2025 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships on Saturday, finishing with 124 points to sit in third place after the second day of action inside the WPI Sports & Recreation Center in Worcester, Mass. The Blue Jays combined for six medals on the day, while also breaking one freshman program record.

TOP PERFORMANCES 

  • 200 Yard Free Relay – The team of freshmen Chris Capen (Wilbraham, Mass.), Alex Carrier (Farmington, Conn.) and Viktor Orzolek (Newington, Conn.) and graduate student Joseph Guerin (Bristol, Conn.) took home the silver, combining for a time of 1:36.08.
  • 500 Yard Free – Freshman Nate Brasky (Madison, Conn.) finished in fifth place, setting a new freshman record of 5:23.57.
  • 50 Yard Back – Capen won his second medal of the night, earning the bronze after touching the wall in 27.21 seconds.
  • 50 Yard Free - Brasky brought home the silver, recording a time of 23.31 seconds, while Carrier earned the bronze, finishing in a time of 23.37 seconds.
  • 200 Yard Breaststroke -  Freshman Aiden Hebb (Waterbury, Conn.) won the silver medal, recording a time of 2:16.03.
  • 800 Free Relay - The team of Brasky, Guerin, Orzolek and Hebb took home their second relay medal of the night, finishing second after combining for a time of 7:57.71.

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays conclude the GNAC Championships tomorrow, Sunday, February 9. Prelims begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the WPI Sports & Recreation Center in Worcester, Mass., with finals beginning at roughly 5:00p.m.
