
Men's Swimming & Diving Sits Second After Opening Day of GNAC Championships
WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team began the 2025 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships on Friday, tallying 61 points to sit in second place after the first day of action inside the WPI Sports & Recreation Center in Worcester, Mass. The Blue Jays combined for four medals on the day, while also breaking four freshman program records.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of freshmen Chris Capen (Wilbraham, Mass.), Nate Brasky (Madison, Conn.), Alex Carrier (Farmington, Conn.) and Aiden Hebb (Waterbury, Conn.) took home the silver, shattering the program's freshman record with a time of 1:43.35
- 200 Yard Free – After setting a new freshman record of 1:50.34 during prelims, Hebb paced the team again during finals, finishing in fifth with a time of 1:52.22.
- 50 Yard Fly – Carrier was the lone Blue Jay in the event, placing fifth with a time of 26.13 seconds.
- 100 Yard Breaststroke - Hebb, who set a new freshman record of 1:00.77 during prelims, brought home his second silver medal of the night, finishing second with a time of 1:01.66
- 200 Yard Back - Capen earned his second silver medal of the night, finishing in second after posting a time of 2:07.28.
- 1000 Yard Free - Graduate student Joseph Guerin (Bristol, Conn.) paced the team with a sixth-place finish, tallying a time of 11:20.25.
- 400 Free Relay - The team of Hebb, Capen, Brasky and Carrier took home their second relay medal of the night, finishing second after combining for a time of 3:25.29.

The Blue Jays continue the GNAC Championships tomorrow, Saturday, February 8. Prelims begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the WPI Sports & Recreation Center in Worcester, Mass., with finals beginning at roughly 6:00p.m.
