
Men's Swimming & Diving Finishes Sixth at Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Freshman Aiden Hebb (Waterbury, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team continued his record breaking campaign, setting new freshman program records in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke, as the Blue Jays rounded out the Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships, hosted by Wesleyan University, Saturday inside the Webster Family Natatorium in Middletown, Conn. USJ tallied a final score of 152 to finish in sixth, besting Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foes Albertus Magnus College and Elms College.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- 200 Yard Free - Hebb paced the team in the event, finishing in 35th after posting a time of 1:53.19.
- 100 Yard Breaststroke - Hebb set a new program record in the event, recording a time of 1:02.50 to place 31st.
- 100 Yard Back - Freshman Chris Capen (Wilbraham, Mass.) was the lone Blue Jay in the event, finishing in 21st after tallying a time of 1:02.43.
- 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of Capen, freshmen Nate Brasky (Madison, Conn.) and Alex Carrier (Farmington, Conn.) and Hebb finished in 20th place, combining for a time of 1:46.98.
- 1650 Yard Free – Graduate student Joseph Guerin (Bristol, Conn.) paced the Blue Jays, finishing in 11th place after posting a time of 19:37.56.
- 200 Yard Back - Capen finished in 18th place, touching the wall in a time of 2:12.21.
- 100 Yard Free - Carrier topped the timing sheet for USJ, finishing in 38th after posting a time of 51.74 seconds.
- 200 Yard Breaststroke - Hebb broke his second freshman program record of the day, recording a time of 2:16.17 to finish in 20th.
- 400 Yard Free Relay - The team of Carrier, Brasky, Capen and Hebb finnished in 18th place, posting a time of 3:30.55.
UP NEXT
The Blue Jays take the rest of December off before heading to Florida for their annual training trip. USJ will head to Deerfield Beach, Fla., from January 3 through January 10.
