Men's Swimming & Diving Sits Sixth After Opening Night of Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Freshman Aiden Hebb (Waterbury, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team set a new freshman program record in the 200 IM as the Blue Jays rounded out the opening day of the Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships, hosted by Wesleyan University, Friday night inside the Webster Family Natatorium in Middletown, Conn. USJ tallied a score of 51 on the night to sit in sixth place after the first day of competition.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- 200 Yard Free Relay – The team of freshmen Alex Carrier (Farmington, Conn.), Nate Brasky (Madison, Conn.), Chris Capen (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Hebb finished in 16th place, combining for a time of 1:34.34.
- 500 Yard Free – Graduate student Joseph Guerin (Bristol, Conn.) paced the Blue Jays, finishing in 31st place after posting a time of 5:38.51.
- 200 Yard IM – Hebb broke his own freshman program record in the event, placing 26th with a time of 2:04.39.
- 50 Yard Free – Carrier topped the timing sheet for USJ, posting a time of 23.38 seconds to finish in 42nd.
- 400 Yard Medley Relay – The team of Capen, Hebb, Carrier and Brasky finished in 17th, combining for a time of 3:58.93.
UP NEXT
The Blue Jays round out the Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships tomorrow, Saturday, December 7. The action inside the Webster Family Natatorium in Middletown, Conn. is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
