Men's Swimming & Diving Defeats Plymouth State, Falls to Husson Saturday Morning

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team split a double-dual meet at home Saturday morning inside the Bruyette Natatorium, defeating Plymouth State University and falling to Husson University. The Blue Jays bested the Panthers by a score of 117-62 and fell to the Eagles, 163-68.

TOP PERFORMANCES

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of freshmen Chris Capen (Wilbraham, Mass.), Aiden Hebb (Waterbury, Conn.), Alex Carrier (Farmington, Conn.) and Nate Brasky (Madison, Conn.) finished in second place, combining for a time of 1:47.57.
  • 1000 Yard Free – Graduate student Joseph Guerin (Bristol, Conn.) topped the timing chart for USJ, finishing in second after touching the wall in a time of 12:32.38.
  • 200 Yard Free – Capen was the lone Blue Jay in the event, placing second with a time of 2:01.96.
  • 50 Yard Back - Freshman Viktor Orzolek (Newington, Conn.) was the sole USJ swimmer in the event, finishing in fourth after touching the wall in 33.69 seconds.
  • 50 Yard Breaststroke – Brasky won the event for the Blue Jays after recording a time of 29.25 seconds.
  • 50 Yard Free – Carrier paced the team, finishing in third after touching the wall in 23.81 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Free – Orzolek was the lone USJ swimmer, placing third with a time of 58.85 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Back - Capen finished in fourth place, posting a time of 1:02.26.
  • 100 Yard Breaststroke - Hebb won the event for USJ, breaking the freshman program record with a time of 1:04.39.
  • 500 Yard Free – Guerin finished in third place, posting a time of 6:01.05.
  • 50 Yard Fly – Carrier was the lone USJ swimmer, finishing in third place with a time of 26.73 seconds.
  • 100 Yard IM – Hebb won the event for USJ, touching the wall in 59.39 seconds.
  • 200 Yard Free Relay - The team of Hebb, Brasky, Capen and Carrier finished in second place, combining for a time of 1:35.73.

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays remain in West Hartford, hosting a double-dual meet against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foes Albertus Magnus College and Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday, November 2. The meet against the Falcons and Monks inside the Bruyette Natatorium is slated to begin at noon.
