Men's Swimming & Diving Sweeps Double Dual-Meet against SJC and Albertus Magnus

STANDISH, Maine. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming & diving team dominated on the road Friday night, sweeping a double-dual meet against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foes, Saint Joseph's College of Maine (SJC) and intrastate rivals Albertus Magnus College (AMC), inside the Harold Alfond Center in Standish, Maine. The Blue Jays defeated the host Monks, 56-54 while also taking down the Falcons, 51-48.

TOP PERFORMANCES

  • 1000 Yard Free – Senior Joseph Guerin (Bristol, Conn) won the event after recording a time of 12:27.46.
  • 200 Yard Free – Senior Tyler Sebold (Centerport, N.Y.) was the lone Blue Jay in the event, finishing in second after touching the wall in a time of 2:29.91.
  • 50 Yard Free – Senior Tim Magill (Staten Island, N.Y.) topped the timing sheet for USJ, finishing in third place after posting a time of 28.02 seconds. Classmate Andrew Parisi (Ellington, Conn.) followed closely behind, finishing in fourth with a time of 29.55 seconds while freshman Thanushra Samaratunga (Colombo, Sri Lanka) finished in fifth in a time of 29.63 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Free – Magill paced USJ in the event, taking home a second-place finish after recording a time of 1:05.07. Sebold finished in third-palce, posting a time of 1:06.96.
  • 500 Yard Free – Guerin won his second event of the day, posting a time of 5:53.05. Parisi made it a one-two USJ finish, placing second in a time of 7:30.17.
  • 100 Yard Breaststroke – Samartunga was the lone Blue Jay in the event, finishing in third place after recording a time of 1:35.75

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays return to West Hartford, taking on fellow GNAC member Norwich University on Friday, November 17. The dual meet against the Cadets inside Bruyette Natatorium is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m.
