Blue Jays Finish Second At GNAC Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team concluded its tremendous 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championships Sunday, finishing in second place after tallying 160 points across the weekend. The runner up accolade is the highest the Blue Jays have ever finished at the GNAC Championships. The men's team earned four medals on the day, finishing with 13 on the weekend.

TOP PERFORMANCES 

  • 100 Yard Free – Senior Aaron Gauvin (Berlin, Conn.) finished in sixth place to pace USJ, improving on his time from the prelims, touching the wall in 51.95 seconds.
  • 50 Yard Breaststroke – Graduate student Michael Allo (Newington, Conn.) continued his dominance in the breaststroke, bringing home the bronze medal with a new program record time of 27.30 seconds.
  • 1650 Yard Free – Junior Joseph Guerin (Bristol, Conn.) secured another medal for USJ, taking home the silver after posting a time of 19:46.00.
  • 200 Yard ButterflyMaksym Ugrak (Newington, Conn.) received the bronze medal in the event, touching the wall in a time of 2:20.14.
  • 400 Yard Medley Relay – The team of juniors Andrew Parisi (Ellington, Conn.), Tim Magill (Staten Island, N.Y.), Guerin and Ugrak received the bronze medal after combining for a time of 4:37.47.
