Men's Swimming Posts Top Times at Blue Jay Pentathlon Friday

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team made their 2022-23 Bruyette Natatorium debut on Friday night, competing in the Blue Jay Pentathlon. Graduate student Michael Allo (Newington, Conn.) took home the gold, combining for a time of 2:48.47. 
 
TOP PERFORMANCES 

  • The Blue Jays took part in an individual-based set of events, where the best combined time over five events would be declared the winner. 

  • Allo won all five events on the day to lead the Blue Jays. 

  • Senior Maksym Ugrak (Newington, Conn.) finished in second in four of the five events, finishing second with a combined time of 3:01.71. 

  • Junior Vinnie Carbonell (Berlin, Conn.), took home the bronze after posting a combined time of 3:05.70. 

  • Juniors Brandon Scacca (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Joseph Guerin (Bristol, Conn.) rounded out the finishers for USJ, finishing fourth and fifth with times of 3:17.15 and 3:20.45, respectively. 

UP NEXT 

The Blue Jays return to the pool next Saturday, October 29 for a dual meet against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Norwich in Northfield, Vt. The meet against the Cadets is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
