Men's Swimming & Diving Defeats UNE, Narrowly Falls to Regis in 2022-23 Season Opener

WESTON, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team split its opening meet of the 2022-23 campaign, narrowly falling to Regis College, 109-108, and defeating the University of New England (UNE), 236-50, Saturday afternoon at Regis Pool in Weston, Mass.

TOP PERFORMANCES

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of Joseph Guerin (Bristol, Conn.), Michael Allo (Newington, Conn.), Maksym Ugrak (Newington, Conn.) and Brandon Scacca (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished in second after posting a time of 1:55.88.
  • 200 Yard Free – Allo took home the gold in the event, finishing in a time of 1:56.35.
  • 50 Yard Back – Aaron Gauvin (Berlin, Conn.) lead the Blue Jays, finishing second in a time of 31.19. Guerin finished in third with a time of 33.61 while Tim Magill (Staten Island, N.Y.) rounded out the USJ finishers, coming in fourth with a time of 42.17.
  • 50 Yard Breaststroke – Allo lead the way again, finishing second with a time of 29.41. Scacca finished in third, posting a time of 34.62.
  • 100 Yard Butterfly – Ugrak was the lone Blue Jay in the event, finishing in third with a time of 1:00.33.
  • 50 Yard Free – Gauvin paced USJ, placing fourth in a time of 27.19. Magill rounded out the Blue Jays, posting a time of 30.57 to finish sixth.
  • 100 Yard Free – Ugrak lead the way, earning the silver after posting a time of 57.09. Gauvin finished in fourth wit ha time of 1:00.73 while Magill finished sixth in a time of 1:14.00.
  • 1 Meter Diving – David Kavanaugh (West Hartford, Conn.) took home the gold, finishing with a score of 139.10.
  • 100 Yard Backstroke – Guerin was the lone USJ swimmer, finishing second in a time of 1:12.21.
  • 100 Yard Breaststroke – Allo won his second event of the day, finishing in a time of 1:03.63.
  • 500 Yard Free – Scacca paced USJ, finishing third with a time of 6:19.63.
  • 50 Yard Butterfly – Ugrak took home a third place finish, recording a time of 27.00.
  • 100 Yard IM – Scacca was the lone Blue Jay, finishing third with a time of 1:11.14.
  • 200 Yard Free Relay– The team of Gauvin, Kavanaugh, Magill and Guerin won the event after posting a time of 1:58.50.
