Men's Soccer Wins Fourth Match In Five Tries Saturday, 2-0

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – A pair of Hartford natives sent strikes between the pipes to propel the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over the Raiders of Rivier University (RIV), in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match on the USJ Soccer Field Saturday.

Junior midfielders Elijah Rowland (Hartford, Conn.) and Charles Mputu (Hartford, Conn.) found the back of the cage in the first and second halves respectively. Rowland's goal was deflected by the goalie but still went in, after a nice find from junior midfielder and captain Michael Torres (Hartford, Conn.). Mputu's strike was in stride for an unassisted score in the 72nd minute. The Blue Jays thoroughly outshot the Raiders to keep the pressure on (23-1 in shots, 12-1 on corner kicks), as the squad walked away with another shutout victory in the 2021 season.
