Men's Soccer Win Streak Snapped In 2-1 GNAC Setback

NEW HAVEN, Conn.  The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Men's Soccer team could not complete the comeback Wednesday night, dropping a 2-1 decision to intrastate foe Albertus Magnus College (AMC) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match on Celentano Field.

Junior midfielder Kelvin Cortez (Meriden, Conn.) had both goals for the Falcons less than a minute apart. Both teams traded opportunities, including three straight shots for the Blue Jays off back-to-back corner kicks in the first half, but to no avail. Down 2-0, the Blue Jays mounted a comeback, getting a much-needed lift from sophomore forward Dane Stephens (Jamaica), who scored his first-career goal in the 78th minute. USJ had chances late, but were unable to get the ball past the Falcons backline.
