Goals Record Broken As Blue Jays Beat Bantams, 5-3

HARTFORD, Conn.  The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's soccer team made it two in a row to start the 2021 season, knocking off the Bantams of Trinity College (TRIN), 5-3, in a non-conference match on the Trinity Soccer Field Wednesday night. The highlight of the night was the sensational play from senior forward DeAnte Anderson (Bloomfield, Conn.), who shattered the program record with five goals on the night. It's the most goals in the history of USJ Men's Soccer, and tied for the most in a game all-time at USJ since 2010:

Anderson did have some help on three of his goals, with two assists from sophomore forward Dane Stephens (Jamaica), and one from junior midfielder Mergim Kutllovci (Thomaston, Conn.). USJ trailed early, but it wasn't for long, as Anderson scored three straight goals in less than eight minutes to take a commanding 3-1 halftime lead. Each of Trinity's second-half goals were answered with another from Anderson, who capped off the night by finding the back of the cage in the 80th minute, setting a mark not seen in a Blue Jay soccer uniform in more than a decade.
