
Men's Lacrosse Picked to Win GNAC South Division in Preseason Coaches' Poll
WINTHROP, Mass. - The reigning Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champion University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's lacrosse team, was selected to win the GNAC South Division in the 2025 Preseason Coaches' Poll, it was announced on Friday by the conference front office. The Blue Jays received 77 total points and 12 out of a possible 13 first-place votes. The annual poll is voted upon by the league's 13 head coaches. The Blue Jays are set to open the 2025 season at home against Emerson College of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) on Saturday, February 15 at 1:00 p.m
The Blue Jays and Rivier University were selected to win the South and North Divisions, respectively. The Raiders garnered 85 total points, and recieved 11 first-place tallies to take the top spot in the North Division. Norwich University and Lasell University followed behind in second in the North and South Divisions. The Cadets received 70 points, while the Lasers earned 56 votes and the final first-place tally for the South Division. Rounding out the top three in the North was Saint Joseph's College of Maine, while Dean College was slotted third in the South Division.
The top four teams in the North and South Divisions at the end of the regular season advance to the 2025 GNAC Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament. The GNAC Quarterfinals are set to take place on Saturday, April 26 at the site of the top two seeds in each division. The GNAC Semifinals are set for Tuesday, April 29 at the sites of the highest remaining seeds in each division, before the 2025 GNAC Championship game on Saturday, May 3 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
The Blue Jays are coming off a historic 2024 season that saw the team lift its first GNAC Championship in program history, finishing the year 17-4 overall and 9-1 in conference play. USJ took down Dean College in the GNAC title game, before besting SUNY Poly at home in the opening round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament. The Blue Jays saw their historic season come to a close in the NCAA Tournament Second Round, falling on the road to the top-ranked team in the country, Salisbury University.
