SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Seniors Michael Callahan (Hampton, N.J.) and Trey McCann (Simsbury, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's lacrosse team have been selected to compete in the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East/West Senior All-Star Game, which will be held on Friday, June 2, at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex on the campus of Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I., at 7:00 p.m. In addition, associate head coach Will Cullen was chosen to coach the West Team.
2023 NEILA EAST/WEST SENIOR ALL-STAR GAME ROSTERS
Callahan will play on Cullen's West All-Star team, while McCann will represent the East All-Star team. The selections mark the first time in program history that Blue Jays were selected for the NEILA Senior All-Star Game. The duo will also be two of eight players representing the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) at the event.
A 2023 All-GNAC Third Team member, Callahan was the anchor of the USJ defensive unit. Starting in all 19 games he appeared in, the defenseman caused a team-high 34 turnovers, the sixth most in the GNAC, while corralling 44 ground balls. McCann was a force in between the pipes for USJ in 2023, starting in 19 of the team's 20 contests. The senior recorded 1063:06 minutes in net, posting a 10.22 goals against average, 211 total saves, a 53.8% save percentage and a 10-9 record.
The NEILA East/West Senior All-Star Game consists of 51 players across NCAA Divisions I, II and III. All players and coaches were nominated by the head coaches within the NEILA. Players were then ranked and selected by a committee, awarding seniors from all three NCAA Divisions who played their college career in the New England region with a spot in the event.
